Salvation Tattoo Lounge was founded by Alex Zarfati, whose career in creative industries and brand development began in the 1990s. With a background spanning multiple companies and fashion-related ventures, Zarfati brought a disciplined, systems-driven approach to an industry that traditionally lacked structure. In 2005, that vision took physical form with the opening of Salvation Tattoo Lounge—designed not simply as a tattoo shop, but as a boutique studio experience focused on professionalism, hospitality, and long-term client relationships.
From the beginning, Salvation Tattoo Lounge set itself apart through refined operations, meticulous standards, and a concierge-style approach to customer service that elevated the entire tattooing experience. These principles—clean technique, thoughtful execution, and respect for the client—remain central to the brand today and are reflected across every location.
Zarfati’s influence extended beyond the studio environment with the creation of Master Tattoo Institute, one of the first formal tattoo education programs in the United States. Under his leadership, the institute became the first tattoo school licensed by the Department of Education, helping establish professional standards for training, safety, and artistic development within the industry. Today, Master Tattoo Institute continues to educate and mentor the next generation of tattoo artists, reinforcing the values that define the Salvation brand.
